Instructor Profile

Kerry Tuckett, owner and instructor of Rocky Canyon Rescue has been teaching technical rescue classes since 1993. He has trained with PRS, RSI, the state of Nevada mine inspectors, and Sierra Rescue International.

He worked for Newmont Mining Corp. as an Emergency Response Coordinator.  As an Emergency Response coordinator, he managed and instructed rescue teams in HAZMAT, Technical rope, Confined Space, Tower rescue, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Kerry retired as chief of Emergency Response April of 2022 from Nevada Gold Mines. He now enjoys teaching rescue classes, goes fishing and enjoys retirement. Additionally, he is an active member and trainer for the Lander County Sheriff’s Search and Rescue, and Battle Mountain Volunteer Fire Department,

Kerry started Rocky Canyon Rescue in 2016 and is an independent contractor for Sierra Rescue International and Rescue 3 International. He is certified as an Emergency Medical Service instructor(EMS) and Mine Safety, Health Administration (MSHA) instructor, and a Fire Service 1 instructor. He also assisted in developing the Technical Large Animal Rescue (TLAR) curriculum for the State of Nevada and utilizes this curriculum to train teams in TLAR in Nevada and California.

He has provided training for multiple large mining companies within Nevada and Colorado; as well as other agencies like, Nevada National Security Site Fire and Rescue, and Lander County EMS.

Kerry has a passion for teaching and tries to make trainings a positive and engaging encounter for everyone. He enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge and experience with his students to help them further develop their newly acquired skills.
